Want to break into the live music and events industry and kickstart your creative career working along some of the biggest names in the business?
The Piece Hall Academy in collaboration with Calderdale College is excited to present two brand new courses, set to create a direct pipeline for local talent into the UK’s rapidly growing live events scene!
Students have the choice between two specialist pathways: Live Events Production, which focuses on staging, lighting, sound and event delivery, or Music Performance and Production, centred on studio recording, sound design and music creation.
You will gain the opportunity to play a vital role in the production of various events at The Piece Hall, including our annual Live at The Piece Hall concert season, which this year includes global acts like CMAT, Bastille, Royel Otis, The K’s and Turnstile to name a few!
Students will also be supported by an impressive line-up of mentors such as BBC 6 Music’s Chris Hawkins, Libertines drummer Gary Powel, Dr Dre’s Aftermath producer Erik “Blu2th” Griggs and many more!
Launching in September 2026, these new one-year Level 3 courses, accredited by the University of Arts London, offer people aged 19+ a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in this creative industry.
The courses are fully funded for students across West Yorkshire who do not already hold a Level 3 qualification and are unemployed, self-employed or earning less than £25,750 per annum, providing an accessible route into careers in the creative industries.
Interested? It may just be the start of the journey that sees you working directly on our flagship summer series, or even, one day taking centre stage as a headliner for Live at The Piece Hall!
Applications are now open for September 2026.
